Job Description
This position is responsible for analyzing specifications, drawings, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for products, projects or services in support of MM Packaging US Carton Sales. Regular duties may include computation of cost factors and preparation of estimates including bid preparation, identifying and requesting quotes from vendors or subcontractors and determining various methodologies for cost effectiveness. This position may also conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data and effect cost reductions and other duties as required. As a member of the Centralized Estimating Team, cross train and back up other team members as needed. Participate and support team projects.
Responsibilities Include:
Prepare cost estimates for cartons including new quotes, projects and bids.
Develop and maintain customer pricing matrix as needed.
Interact with the customer service and sales departments and internal and external customers
Assist with developing and maintaining work center estimating tables and material cost in estimating database
Review any pricing issues/discrepancies
Work with production in understanding cost issues
Participate in and support Centralized Estimating projects
Backup other members of the Centralized Estimating Team as needed
Performs all other duties as assigned
III. Position Requirements:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma
5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment with multiple product lines. Pharmaceutical carton manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
Knowledge of carton materials and applications
ERP experience preferred or the ability to learn the software within 90 days of hire.
Ability to think and act independently.
Must be able to evaluate structural drawings.
Ability to read and understand customer specifications.
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be aware of and responsive to time constraints.
A broad understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices as they relate to pharmaceutical printed components a plus
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Work effectively with all levels of the organization.
Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Excel
IV. Physical Demands:
Individuals will need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion.
V. Work Environment:
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection may be required. Requires the removal of personal items such as jewelry, rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, and earrings. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
